Organic production can be defined as «DQ»an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony.«DQ» Organic foods form a key component in consumer trend known as a whole health solution - diet that promote health and well-being, prevent disease, help to cure illness and protect the environment. The complete information about organic foods has been collected from various journals, books, online databases and various reports from international conferences for time period of 1974-2013. This article will give an overview of organic foods and its perspective in India.
